Rider Updates

Yesterday was the Supercross State Championship race at Penrose Stadium in Colorado Springs Colorado. The sky opened up and dumped a couple inches of rain the night before the race, and made the track a mud pit for practice and the 1st set of motos. I rode well and stayed on 2 wheels. I went into the weekend ranked 5th in 250 novice and 13th in open novice. i rode well enough in the open class to move up 4 spots to 9th in the series. in 250 i was 35 points down on 4th place, but could only make up 20, so I stayed in 5th overall. I would just like to thank my sponsors motoworld racing.com and edge industries.

April 8th was the date of the first local SX race of the season. I went into the weekend a bit more nervous than usual, mainly due to the fact that I was going to be on a borrowed bike, that I hadn't ridden before. Thats right, a completly foriegn bike going into practice. Luckily I was able to set the bike up a bit by feel before practice. The fact that it was going to be my 1st ride on a 250 2 stroke in over a year didn't calm those butterflies one bit. Yes boys and girls, I was officially nervous.
Practice went well, and I got most sections of the track down quickly. Luckily the adjustments I made to the suspension were pretty much as good as I could have hoped to make them. I needed a minor bar and lever adjustment, but nothing major. I was feeling a lot more confident after practice.
My 1st moto was my open novice qualifier. I had 10th gate pick, which was still ok, but i ended up lined up pointed straight towards the wall of the tunnel into the main arena. I got a good jump off the line, and was 4th out of the tunnel. I held 4th until we got around to the big double, which I hadn't hit in practice. 3 riders got around me there, and I vowed to hit it next lap. I kept my promice to myself and cranked it next lap. I held my position the rest of the moto, and finished in 7th in my qualifier, well ahead of the top 10 cut-off I needed to make the main.
My 250 novice class was smaller, and didn't have qualifiers. I had 18th pick on the gate (dead last)but once again got a great jump off the line. I got pushed out a bit in the 1st corner, and then had a bobble in the whoops. I dropped back to about 15th, and started working my way up. I started picking riders off in the rythym section, and the big double that cost me a couple positions in my open qualifier. I ended up passing up into 11th place.
250 novice moto 2 went about the same. My unfamiliarity with the bike in the whoops almost cost me big time, as

Well, after a couple of great motos at wildrat (with the exception of my 1st turn "nap" in the 1st moto haha) I am sitting 9th in points. My starts would be absolutly great, if I was on an equal bike with everyone else, as I consistantly get the jump off the line, but that 250f just simply wont out-pull the big 450s in the class down a long start. Hopefully once I get on the yz250 I will have more than enough oomph to outrun people down the start, but as it is today, I guess I need to just keep my elbows up and ready to do battle through the 1st turn. I have been riding very consistantly and am now right where i should be in points at this point in the season. I would like to thank my current sponsors, MotoworldRacing.com, 661, and Edge Industries for their support. Thank you all.
